5 Ways To Move Your Business In The Right Direction

business entrepreneur fitness health movement Feb 03, 2025
Entrepreneur exercising in a small space
“If you're building a business and sacrificing your health to do it, that's not worth it.” Kim White

Entrepreneurs spend too much time in front of their screens.

It’s easy to spend your life working on your business, but losing your health, family, relationships, and everything that really matters. And then you’ll need to spend the rest of your days spending your money to fix it all.

That's not a good way to live.

“Everyone has the right to feel good in their body.” Cat Corchado

If you want your business to move in the right direction, you need to be moving your body too.

Move Your Body To Move Your Business

Entrepreneurship is a good analogy for fitness.

“As business owners we think we have to have a swim suit body for summer.” Kim White

Think about the silly expectations we put on ourselves in fitness and in business. It's easy to get overwhelmed trying to do too much at one time.

The truth is we injure ourselves doing too much too soon. The truth is we think we have to do it today or its never going to happen. The truth is we need to be surrounded by others who are encouraging.

We do need someone who can help us.

Here are 5 practical ways to get your body moving to keep your business moving in the right direction from the conversation with the freakin fabulous Cat Corchado, movement specialist, pilates icon, decorated airforce veteran, rockstar podcaster, and online community leader of Small Space Pilates.

1. Don’t Move Alone

“Whenever you're trying something new in business, if you're by yourself it's going to be difficult.” Cat Corchado

Whether it’s fitness or business, it’s easy to feel like you’re the only one doing something, or the only one facing challenges.

Joining a community is key because when you’re not sure what the next step is, you’ll have someone who you can go to for help.

And it will enable you to keep going when things get hard, instead of stopping or running the other way.
“It’s hard to start your own business, and we know that business is better together.” Jill Olish

Find a fitness buddy, and business bestie. This adventure is not meant to be traveled alone.

2. Keep Moving Forward

“The word “entrepreneur” and I have dated for years. It was a long-term relationship, off-and-on. We started getting more cosy and comfortable with each other. We started living together and then got married! It’s a good relationship. We’re happy and it’s been 2 years now!” Cat Corchado

There's always a learning curve. And there’s always something you miss or forget. The great news is that you learn from your mistakes, then you rinse and repeat.

The more you do it, the more you know how it works. It's important to keep moving forward even if you're scared.

You're going to make mistakes, but you'll be learning.

“I love the fact that I can learn as I go and I have people who can teach me the right way to get there.” Cat Corchado

And when you’re married to entrepreneurship, it makes the hard times more manageable. For example, you see things that used to be very discouraging hurdles as little hiccups.
They are just opportunities to make a correction and keep moving forward.

“It's not that big of a deal. I switch something on, or off, take a breath, and try to understand what happened so I can make that correction.” Cat Corchado

Whatever you do, don’t stop. No matter how slowly you’re going, keep moving forward.

3. Move At The Right Pace For You

“The truth is that we need to slow down to speed up.” Kim White

When you trust the process, you will see the momentum as your business grows. And you will be able to build a business that you own and that doesn’t own you.

You will surprise yourself. You’ll stop feeling so afraid. And you’ll feel more comfortable putting events together, and more secure as an entrepreneur.

“Slow down to speed up: it's true for business, and it's the same for fitness. If you started moving in hopes of getting healthier, and through that you lost weight, slept better, ate healthier, felt better. Isn't that better than doing 2 hours of workouts that are overwhelming?” Cat Corchado

It might feel like the complete opposite thing to do, but moving at a slower pace will always give you a boost. Then you can watch where your momentum takes you on your fitness and entrepreneurial journey.

4. Focus On Functional Movements

“If you can’t do functional movements, how are you living?” Cat Corchado

You want to be able to take care of yourself, get up out of a chair, make your own dinner. If you can't do that without help, then that's not your best life.

Functional movements are movements you would do everyday. For example: standing up from sitting, sitting from standing, reaching over head for something , twisting to get things.

A lot of people can't do those everyday functional movements, but everyone has the capability of learning functional movements.

“I wish people would pay more attention to their own movements, but you don't know what you don't know, until someone shows you better.” Cat Corchado

They might seem like small movements that don’t really matter, but mastering functional movement in your personal life and business life is what will keep you going on your entrepreneurial journey long-term.

5. Try The 11-Minute Keep It Moving Challenge

“It takes 10 minutes of moving your body for the endorphins to kick in, and then you think I can keep going.” Cat Corchado

For anyone who has been spending too much time on their business and they're feeling bad in their bodies, connect with Cat.

The KEEP IT MOVING 11 MINUTE WORKOUT CHALLENGE is a free opportunity to spend some time with Cat and get comfortable with moving your body.

Lack of time is the biggest obstacle to starting an exercise program. And starting with an hour is intimidating. But everyone has 11 minutes.

“People think 11 minutes can't be effective. They think you need to be dying and lying on the floor after an hour of exercise, and it's not true.” Kim White

Moving your body for 11 minutes a day can have a big impact on your personal health goals, and your business growth because you will be the best version of you.

When you move your body, you also move the needle in your business.

Even if you only have 11 minutes, you just need to start moving and you might surprise yourself with how far you are able to go in your fitness journey, and your entrepreneurial adventure.

“From not being able to walk 5 steps to doing a hike up a small mountain... that's independence.” Kim White
