3 Simple Ways For Entrepreneurs To Take A Break
Jan 22, 2024Do you take a break over the festive season?
Are entrepreneurs even allowed to take a break - ever?
There are so many perks to entrepreneurship, but chances are you probably don’t have 2 weeks of leave written into your schedule for the holidays.
Even worse. If you don’t work, you don’t get paid. And the festive season is the worst time for a low bank balance.
Everything in this business adventure is better together, so let’s bring some holiday cheer into entrepreneurship. And let’s figure out how to navigate the festive season so that you and your business can keep growing and thriving.
1. Take A Break By Celebrating
Believe it or not, taking a break is good for business.
The festive season is about celebrating, so why not include your business wins in those celebrations?
Wherever you are in your entrepreneurship adventure, you’ll have something to celebrate.
Take some time to think back over the year and write down some big milestones you passed, or goals you accomplished. Then stop to celebrate.
Don’t let those achievements pass you by as you speed into the new year.
Besides giving you a chance to take a break, celebrating will boost your confidence and your motivation to start the new year with a bang!
2. Take A Break By Putting Down Those Holiday Boom Gates
“At some point, you have to be able to pull down the boom gate and switch off.” Kerry Zarb
Close the calendar, stop reading all of the messages, and take the opportunity to rest. Enjoy the festive season and have time with family & friends. Strip some of those weights off your shoulders for a little bit. And then put your skates back on for the new year!
On your entrepreneurship adventure, it might not be possible to take a few weeks off this festive season. Especially if you are new in business. We get it.
It's hard to make any kind of forecast in the early days, the financial side, keeping customers & clients happy when you're brand new in business. If you're taking a small break or no break at all, we get it 100%.
If you’re not taking a long break this festive season, why not take the opportunity to do less, or just do something different? Maybe binge-listen to the latest season of The Money Barista or Buckets and Boom Gates podcasts.
3. Take A Break By Being Together
A highlight of the festive season is usually being with family and friends. And if you can do that, take the time to be present with them and to make new memories together.
But there are seasons when you don't have family around and you can feel extra lonely. The festive season really highlights that for a lot of people.
The entrepreneurship adventure can feel a lot like that too. It’s easy to feel like you’re the only one doing something, or the only one who can't figure something out.
“We don't want you to feel like you're on this adventure alone.” Kim White
Doing business together is what wraps the entrepreneurship adventure in fun and grows your business in ways you could never dream of.
So if you don’t have family around this festive season, why not take a break by connecting with your biz besties or your community and having some non-work fun together?
The festive season is a serious holiday, and taking a break is seriously good for business. Because it’s good for you - a human being.
So take a break by celebrating your milestones, by putting down those holiday boom gates, and by being together with people you can make memories with.
