How To Trust the Process as an Entrepreneur (6 practical tips)

If you're reading this you are most likely a trail blazing entrepreneur. You’ve set up your goal of a sexy life. And now you're building a sexy business to go along with it.

Isn't it just so exciting? Isn't it incredibly amazing?  I think if you're really honest you can admit that it starts out that way. But something starts to steal the entrepreneurial twinkle in your eye, your excitement & your motivation.

Whether you are a month in, or it's been 10 years, it's so easy to get bored and discouraged by the process…
The mundane day to day processes of running your business
The depressing & frustrating processes of failures and challenges that come naturally with the growth of any business
And most of all the careful, strategic process of building your business in the right way.

It is hard to trust a process that is mundane, and even sometimes depressing and frustrating. So it's vital to stop right here, do an analysis and possibly a big mindset shift.

The danger for us entrepreneurs

We entrepreneurs are usually big-picture, goal-driven people. So the problem is that our thought patterns go something like this:
I'm not meeting my goals - somethings wrong with my business.
OR
I'm bored - somethings wrong with my business.
...Oh well I better quit.

No. No. No.
Well Yes - there may be something wrong, but the solution is not to quit.

"The only way to fail is to quit."

So what is the solution?

The solution is to TRUST THE PROCESS and to ask yourself:
"Am I building my business in the right way?"

And obviously, the next question to ask is, "So how do I know if I am doing it the right way? How do I trust the process?"

Trusting the Process is these 3 things:

Trusting a Mentor

Go to someone who is AHEAD of you and is living a sexy life and running a sexy business in the way you want to do it.

One of the biggest factors affecting your success as an entrepreneur lies in the answer to this simple question: Are you willing to be mentored?

That doesn't mean getting someone else to do all the hard work. You have to be involved and engaged in the process too. You have to be coachable.

Adjusting the Process

Think about everything that's going on in your business and how you can make it even better.

It's OK to question the process.
It's OK to tweak the process.
But trust that the low points are there for a reason. Trust that the setbacks are there to teach you. Trust that the whole process has meaning.

Never Giving up

Have you decided what success means to you? That incredible goal you have, the thing that fills you with joy and motivation. The reason you became an entrepreneur in the first place. Is it making a million dollars? Is it running an agency? Is it publishing a book?

Keep that goal (and the feelings it gives you) at the forefront of your mind as you trust the process. Be determined to go the entire way. Not just part of the way. Go until you have reached your version of success, whatever it is.

And be careful of these 3 self-sabotage tactics:

Believing those nasty self-doubts

We all get them, especially us entrepreneurs! The moment we face setbacks the voices start:
"You're the problem."
"You're not good enough."

These voices make us misinterpret the process. They are not helpful. And there is only one thing to do with those voices… write down their messages and then throw them away!

Thinking that nobody has ever done what you want to do.

I get mad when people tell me that. Even as entrepreneurs, there is nothing new under the sun! There is always someone who has done something slightly similar, someone, you can learn from.

And getting stuck in this way of thinking keeps you isolated. It prevents you from reaching out and getting valuable help and ideas for your business.

Looking for a way out of the process

This is one of the most important thought patterns to deal with. Building a sexy business and a sexy life is simple, but it's certainly not easy.

The process is rarely smooth because it is all about learning valuable lessons. It is hard. Being an entrepreneur is hard. It takes a very unique kind of person to start and continue on this journey.

Learning is vital as an entrepreneur. You can't fight it or escape it. Why would you want to? If you're looking for a way out of the process (out of learning) then you're definitely losing out in the long run.

What happens if you don’t trust the process?

When you don’t trust the process, when you don't value learning, when you don't have anyone guiding you, it's too easy to quit every other day. And then you will never make PROGRESS.

If you don't set your business up in the right way, you set yourself up to fail. Isn't that depressing? It might feel like the setbacks in your business are depressing, but nothing is as depressing as never knowing what could have been.

In a nutshell, trusting the process is this:

Never Give Up
Find a better way if it's not working
Find someone to help you

"Don't be stubborn in how you do something.
But be completely stubborn in the PERSEVERANCE
of building a sexy business and a sexy life."
